Tribute Band?
Bowie is a true original - I love the music
and how it evolves from album to album.
Like many others I was drawn to his music
through his hits in the 70's & 80's but it's
probably in the last 10 years that I've delved
deeper into the back catalogue and fallen in
love with some of the less well known treasures.
Having the opportunity to sing these fantastic
songs in a band is a dream come true!
What is your favourite David Bowie song?
With such a huge wealth of great tunes it's difficult to pick just one, so it tends to vary. At the moment it's probably "Fill Your Heart" from the "Hunky Dory" album. That album always seems to come out at the end of a party and a few of us sing along with it until we get told to turn it down!
What is your previous experience?
I sang in a band called Sweet Revenge around 18 years ago. We did our own material - I'd probably describe it as a cross between Led Zeppelin and Killing Joke.
What other music do you enjoy?
A huge range really - Beatles, Stones, Who, Dylan, Neil Young, Clash, Smiths, The Hives, Disco, Soul, Funk - the list could go on for ever. I think most of the best pop/rock music has probably already been written though - there's very little new music that stands out as original in my opinion and few bands seem to evolve in the way that acts like Bowie and the Beatles did. Maybe that's why tribute acts are so popular today?
